A Little About Me

At age six, I was suddenly struck with the thought, “I am me!”

I still remember that day because the thought stopped me in my tracks. I couldn’t let go of the idea. It implied a level of separation I wasn’t ready for.

I grew up in a devout Christian family, but organized religion never spoke to me.

I felt a strong pull to something larger than myself but had no idea what that was.

These mysteries came to a head with the birth of our disabled son, the first major event of my life over which I had no control. I began questioning the meaning of my life and its purpose. More specifically, I searched for a way to transcend our difficult circumstances and find joy.

Realizing I wasn’t the first to face such challenges, I began studying the mystical writings of philosophers and theologians, intent on crafting a rubric to guide my life. I kept a journal along the way.

After many years, I reached an inescapable conclusion: The road to peace by way of intellect was impassable. I was intrigued by Eastern contemplative practices and decided to initiate one of my own. This practice became integral to my life.

This blog reflects my journey, but it isn’t about me. We all seek joy, meaning, and belonging. Many paths are available, but each of us must find our way.

I invite you to join me on that journey, “Towards A Life Well-Lived.”
