Freedom

It was another busy week as we get the cabin ready for summer guests. The longer days invite outdoor activities, leaving little time for reflection and writing.

I’m pretty sure July 4th comes sooner every year, especially Up-North, where two months ago, the lake was still frozen. As we approach our country’s celebration of freedom, I’ll offer another poem I wrote during the mid-twenty aughts, when I began mindfulness practice.

Freedom

Do you know
what happens,
a layer beneath thought,
a layer beneath emotion,
when we simply breathe
without plans,
without obligations,
when we experience
light as light,
sound as sound,
and life as living?
I will tell you.
Freedom!

I’m going to take some time off to refresh and hopefully come back with new ideas. I’ll begin regular posts again in mid-August!

Enjoy your summer!

Hope you get some of that FREEDOM you speak of over the next six weeks at you lake home—–Here on our island on Bay Lake I manage to reach that level of “FREEDOM” more often than any other place in the World—- God Bless and Restfulness—– Wren.
